U.S. Climate Bill dead for now as of 07/22/2010

The lack of political support for moving ahead with national legislation to address rapid climate change may mean that no action is taken on the national level for awhile, if ever. Due to the size and influence of the U.S. market for the near future and that this lack of activity may retard a true international response, we should assume that impacts may be greater than current predictions. This makes climate change adaptation education even more important for our communities to be resilient.

Climate Change Adaptation is defined by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change as "adjustment in natural or human systems in response to actual or expected climatic stimuli or their effects, which moderates harm or exploits beneficial opportunities."

Resilience is defined as "the capacity of a system to absorb disturbance and still retain its basic function and structure."
